Ambassador Richard Olson Discusses U.S.–UAE Relations with American University of Sharjah Students and Alumni
April 28, 2009 – Ambassador Richard G. Olson, Jr. visited the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to discuss U.S.-UAE relations with current and former AUS students. In his remarks, Ambassador Olson focused on the multi-faceted political, commercial, educational, and cultural relationship between the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
In addressing the strong educational ties between the two countries, Ambassador Olson noted the wisdom and foresight of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah and President of the American University of Sharjah. He noted that His Highness’ “personal devotion has distinguished the American University of Sharjah and University City, and is also what distinguishes Sharjah as a place of serious learning and culture.”
