U.S. Congressional Delegation Visits Dubai to Discuss Transportation and Infrastructure

April 8, 2009 – A U.S. Congressional delegation led by Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson (Democrat – Texas) made a three day visit to the United Arab Emirates to discuss transportation and infrastructure.  

The Congressional delegation was comprised of Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson (Democrat – Texas), Representative Henry Brown (Republican – South Carolina), Representative Harold Rogers (Republican – Kentucky), Representative Corrine Brown (Democrat – Florida), Representative Candice Miller (Republican – Michigan), and Representative Donna Edwards (Democrat – Maryland). 

The delegation traveled to the United Arab Emirates to learn about the transportation and infrastructure projects in Dubai.  During their visit they met with HE Mohammed Al Gergawi, UAE Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and HE Reem al Hashimy, Minister of State.  The delegation was briefed by Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, and toured Dubai International’s new Terminal 3. The delegation also met wtih Mohammed Sharaf, CEO, DPWorld, and was given a full briefing and tour of the Jebel Ali port. HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), briefed the group on the range of RTA initiatives to improve public transport in Dubai.
