Financial Planning and Financial Aid
Students should begin their financial planning at the same time they
begin choosing colleges– at least 12 months before commencement of study
in the United States.
Tuition costs may vary from college to college. Private universities
charge more than public universities, which in turn charge more than
community colleges. Cost is not an indication of the quality of an
institution.
Living expenses will vary depending on location and the student’s
lifestyle.
There are two criteria for financial aid: merit (i.e. grades) and
financial need. Students should apply for scholarships based on one of
these two criteria.
Opportunities to work in the United States are limited and cannot be used as an official source of funding.
