2007-2008 Fulbright Scholarship Program
Applications Due November 15
UAE nationals are invited to apply for Fulbright scholarships for graduate study in the United States for the 2007–2008 academic year. Funding will be granted for up to two years of graduate study in a master’s or doctoral program.
Fulbright Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate academic excellence, strong English language skills, leadership qualities, and a commitment to improving cross-cultural relations through international exchange. Applicants must also express a desire to use skills gained in the United States to serve the UAE upon completion of their studies.
Eligibility requirements: Applications are encouraged from students meeting ALL of these criteria:
- Demonstrate spoken and written English documented by a minimum score of 197 CBT/ 71 iBT / 530 PBT for master’s programs, and 243 CBT / 96 iBT / 590 PBT for doctoral programs on the TOEFL CBT, iBT or ITP exams;
- Received a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university for master’s program candidates, or both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from accredited universities for doctoral candidates, with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B or 80% equivalent) or above;
- U.A.E. citizens
- Eligible for J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa (No U.S. passport holders or green card holders).
Application must include:
- TOEFL score (minimum iBT score of 71 for Master’s degree & 96 for PhD) If ITP score is submitted, iBT TOEFL test registration confirmation must ALSO be included. iBT TOEFL test registration confirmation date must be before December 16, 2006.
- GRE test registration confirmation (non-business related fields) or GMAT test registration confirmation (business related fields). Test registration confirmation date must be before November 30th, 2006.
- Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree certificate & final transcripts in English.
- Graduate (Master’s) degree certificate & final transcripts in English.
- Three letters of recommendation from university professors.
- Summary of work experience (CV), if applicable.
- One recent photo.
- Copy of UAE passport.

Most fields of study are eligible. Fields that will be of benefit to U.A.E. society will be given preference (students of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy are not eligible).
