United Service Organization President and Chief Executive Officer Edward A. “Ned” Powell and USO Board Members Visit Dubai
In coordination with USO South West Asia, Consul General Paul Sutphin and Mrs. Cathy Sutphin hosted a reception at the Consul General’s residence in honor of United Service Organization President and Chief Executive Officer Edward A. “Ned” Powell, Mrs. Powell and a number of members of the USO Board of Directors on February 1, 2007. Guests included resident US and Emirati business leaders and friends of the USO. Mr. Powell and the board members were in Dubai as part of a tour of the USO’s South West Asia operations, including the USO’s Dubai hub. USO Dubai offers support, entertainment, recreation and services to tens of thousands of visiting US armed forces personnel in Dubai each year. The Consul General praised the selfless work of the USO in support of thousands of young people serving their country; he particularly recognized the vital service of the hundreds of unpaid volunteers on whom the organization depends in Dubai and elsewhere. Mr. Powell, on behalf of USO Dubai, presented the Consul General and Mrs. Cathy Sutphin with plaques recognizing their support for the USO’s Dubai operations.
