U.S. Consulate General Supports the Launch of Michigan State University’s Dubai Campus
November 12, 2008 – Michigan State University (MSU) President Lou Anna K. Simon and members of the MSU Board of Trustees celebrated the inauguration of MSU’s Dubai campus at a reception hosted at the residence of U.S. Consul General Paul Sutphin.
The inauguration coincided with the visit of a U.S. Congressional delegation to the United Arab Emirates. The delegation was in the UAE to learn about the activities and experiences of U.S. colleges and universities that operate branch campuses overseas, and to gain a greater understanding of international institutions that seek U.S. accreditation.
Among the guests at the reception were Representative Ruben Hinojosa (Democrat – Texas), Representative Mazie Hirono (Democrat – Hawaii), Representative Grace Napolitano (Democrat – California), Representative Ed Pastor (Democrat – Arizona), and Representative Henry Brown (Republican – South Carolina). They were also joined by Mr. Ricardo Martinez and Ms. Julie Radocchia, Professional Staff Members from the Committee on Education and Labor. Also present was TECOM CEO Abdulatif al Mulla.
