Update Regarding Visa Services
The Bureau of Consular Affairs reports that the database responsible for handling biometric clearances has been rebuilt and is being tested. 44 posts, representing more than two-thirds of our normal capacity, are now online and issuing visas. We anticipate full restoration of the system within the next week. Our team continues to work 24/7 to restore the systems to full functionality.
IF YOUR INTERVIEW WAS SCHEDULED FOR DUBAI:
- If you ALREADY had your interview and your visa application was APPROVED, and you need to submit your passport for the visa, please drop your passport off at the Consulate on any working day between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. You may submit your passport either in person OR via a representative. No appointment is necessary. The passport and visa will be returned to you via our courier service EMPOST.
- If you made an interview appointment, and we were not able to interview you because of the system problems, please reschedule your interview appointment now. We will open up additional appointments as soon as we are able.
SPECIAL NOTICE FOR TRANSFERS: If you submitted your DS-160 visa application to the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi but scheduled your visa interview appointment at the US Consulate in Dubai, we may have told you at the interview appointment that we were not able to transfer your case due to the technical problems. If you are in this group of applicants, please either:
1) reschedule your appointment in Abu Dhabi; or
2) reschedule your appointment in Dubai, but please complete a NEW DS-160, selecting Dubai as the location, before appearing for your appointment.
