Visas
General Information
The US Consulate in Dubai processes applications for non-immigrant visas for residents of Dubai and the northern Emirates. The Consulate also processes applications for Iranian residents. All immigrant visa applications are processed at the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Appointments are required for visa interviews.
Non-immigrant visas are required for travelers who wish to visit, work or study for a temporary period. The type of visa required will depend on the purpose of your travel.
Anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently must apply for an immigrant visa, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States.
Notice to Visa Applicants
United States embassies and consulates around the world are introducing a new online visa application form in the coming weeks. This new online form, known as the DS-160, will allow applicants to submit their information digitally and improve the efficiency of the visa application process. Based on experience at United States diplomatic posts that have already begun using this form, we anticipate that applicants will enjoy faster and more efficient service at the Embassy or Consulate General. The new process is also more environmentally friendly, as applicants will now only have to print two pages rather than the four or more that were previously required. From February 28, 2010, use of this new form will be mandatory for all visa applicants at Embassy Abu Dhabi and Consulate General Dubai.
