Zayed University Students Visit U.S. Consulate to Learn about U.S. Policy

April 2009 – Students from Zayed University’s Dubai campus have been involved with a long-distance learning program with students at the University of Delaware, located in the United States.  The program participants – who have been communicating through a series of video-teleconferences – finally came face-to-face in April, when three Delaware students traveled to Dubai to meet their Zayed counterparts.

As part of their exchange program, the students visited the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai.  During the meeting they met with State Department Officers representing the Public Affairs, Economic, and Consular Sections.  Students and officers discussed life in the United States and the United Arab Emirates, the role of a diplomat, and the value of educational exchanges.

The students also met with Consul General Paul Sutphin, who spoke with them about U.S. policy in the UAE and the broader Middle East.
